Who We Are

The Director of The American Independent Institute is Sam Skolnik, an editor, reporter and author with more than two decades of newspaper and online news experience. Sam has reported for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and the Las Vegas Sun, and has also been published in The New York Times, Salon and The Washington Post. In 2011, Beacon Press published Sam's first book, High Stakes: The Rising Cost of America's Gambling Addiction. From 2011-2013, he worked as the Washington-based deputy editor of The National Law Journal.

The President of The American Independent Institute is David Brock, founder of Media Matters for America and New York Times best-selling author of five books, including The Fox Effect: How Roger Ailes Turned a Network into a Propoganda Machine (with Ari Rabin-Havt), and Blinded by the Right: The Conscience of an Ex-Conservative.
